My creative process always begins with a feeling, an emotion or emotions that are running through me at the time, and I start visualizing the movement and change that I'm feeling. Will it be expressed with heavy texture? Or will a soft atmospheric approach suit this air of emotions swirling in my head? What colors do I see in this state of emotional exploration? Are they deep and heavy only or is the light intruding and forcing its way into being? As my awareness solidifies the visual takes form and I begin the process of production. To figure out how best to arrive at the visual my emotions have become. I must separate it all into elemental steps to achieve the final visual of my emotions.
Acrylic paint allows me to work quickly, to capture the emotions as they are coalescing into a visual. All must be done quickly, planning the steps that come with the experience of experimentation while holding the emotions as they feed into the artwork. Visual emotion seeking hope within the dark.
